The Wolters Kluwer Health telephone survey included 1,000 adult consumers in and was completed in July. Results from the survey also show 30 percent of respondents reported either personally experiencing a medical error or having a family member/friend who experienced a medical error.
Results also revealed that while consumers fail to check on hand hygiene, 84 percent of respondent have taken other steps to ensure medical errors don’t occur, such as obtaining a second opinion on a diagnosis or treatment and writing down instructions for physicians and nurses.
