Here are five key notes:
1. The project, ADOPT, is a three-year initiative centering on different ASC settings and services. ADOPT stands for Adaptation and Dissemination Outpatient Infection Prevention.
2. A CDC contract is supporting ADOPT, which will develop infection control plans, expand the reach of such plans and help ASCs adopt these infection control guidance materials to combat infections.
3. The CDC and The Joint Commission have chosen 12 outpatient-focused professional organizations and 10 ASC systems to participate in ADOPT.
4. During the project, the select groups will give information pertaining to the current use of infection prevention guidance materials and will offer input about new or adapted model infection plans.
5. The organizations will help the CDC and The Joint Commission make sure the guidelines are applicable and ASCs can readily implement them in their facilities.
