Florida Internist Will Serve 3 Years for Medicaid Fraud

Manuel J. Fernandez, MD, an internist from Miami, has been sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay more than $656,000 in restitution for committing Medicaid fraud, according to a Crestview News Bulletin report.

Dr. Fernandez’ fraud was discovered after the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration found a patient survey indicating he had billed Medicaid for services he never provided, according to the report.
