For the first three to nine months of the three-year test program, medical technology claims will be subject to a pre-payment review before requiring advance permission when the system is fully realized. This is a change from the standard procedure of identifying fraud after the payment has been made. Procedures on the list include spinal fusions, joint replacements and pacemaker and defibrillator surgeries.
