Clemson University Bioengineering Lab to Study Surgical Implants, Joint Replacements

Clemson University opened a bioengineering lab at the Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center’s Patewood campus, according to a university news release.

The 30,000-square-foot facility houses one of the country’s largest stores of post-use total joint replacements, including hip and knee joints, which have been removed from patients. The more than 100 faculty who will use this laboratory will analyze how the joints performed over the years and report back to manufacturers with the goal of improving patient care.
