Some significant differences the study found were that chronic back pain appears to be more intense, less likely to fluctuate and more likely to be bilateral than subacute lower back pain.
Researchers also found that the sub-acute form, defined as lasting fewer than 16 weeks, often doesn’t turn into the chronic form.
