The survey was administered to infection control officers and laboratory personnel at 218 hospitals. The majority of respondents (91 percent) cite the need to optimize therapy away from broad spectrum agents, such as vancomycin, although 94 percent say that broad spectrum agents are often or sometimes used to treat infections.
