Florida’s Surgeon General Signs Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Into Effect

Frank Farmer, MD, Florida’s Surgeon General, signed a final order last Friday that allows for the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program to move forward with implementation, according to a release from the Florida Society of Pain Management Providers.

The program will be underway after a long struggle over implementation. The program aims to bar felons’ involvement in pain clinics and end “Pill Mill” incidents.
