Study: Kiva Augmentation System May Improve Vertebral Metastases Pain

A recent European study of the Kiva VCF treatment system for osteolytic vertebral metastases showed relevant improvement in pain and functional improvement in patients.

The single-arm study included 40 patients who underwent vertebral augmentation with the Kiva PEEK-OPTIMA implant. The results were published in Pain Physician Journal.

The device by Santa Clara, Calif.-based Benvenue Medical could present a new treatment option for patients with vertebral metastases — malignant bone tumors that can cause spine collapse — where other therapies may not be an option, according to the release.
