The study, presented at the Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine and the World Congress on Exercise in Medicine, utilized the Thera-Band brand of elastic tubing with handles for exercise routines for either two or 12 minutes. After 10 weeks, both exercise groups significantly reduced pain and tenderness compared with a control group.
Neck and shoulder pain is a common problem among desk workers, particularly those using a desktop computer. One study noted a 50 percent incidence of neck and shoulder pain over a one-year period.
