Oklahoma Senator Introduces Anti-Fraud Legislations

U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), MD, will introduce a bill with Illinois Representative Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) to Congress that aims to combat waste in the federal Medicare and Medicaid programs, according to a news release by Senator Coburn.

The bill “Fighting Fraud and Abuse to Save Taxpayers’ Dollars” proposes several anti-fraud measures, including increased requirements for Medicare administrative contractors, increased penalties for illegally sharing beneficiary identification and calls for a pilot program that would use universal product numbers on Medicare claim forms, according to a Health Care News report.
