South Dakota Podiatrist Charged With Healthcare Fraud

Todd Monroe, DPM, a podiatrist from Aberdeen, S.D., has pleaded guilty to fraudulently filing paperwork in order to receive payments from Medicare, according to an Aberdeen American News report.

Dr. Monroe filed the fraudulent documents between Jan. 1, 2005, and Nov. 30, 2008, according to the report. In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dropped a healthcare fraud charge. He has agreed to pay $13,427 in restitution to Medicare.

No other details about the fraud were disclosed in the report.
