Simone Healthcare Development, who was leasing the site to Montefiore, will use it to build residential units instead. Crain’s New York Business also reports Montefiore has no plans for a replacement project.
According to Crain’s New York Business, the ASC was “doomed” by legislation co-sponsored by Bronx Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz. They also note there was strong community opposition to the ASC, with opponents thinking it would bring too much traffic.
