Research Shows High Patient Support for Reducing Sepsis, Hospital-Acquired Infections

Research by Partnership for Quality Care revealed that 84 percent of Americans surveyed believe reducing sepsis deaths and hospital-acquired infections should be a top priority in hospitals, according to a news release.

In addition, 83 percent of survey respondents believed sepsis is a “very serious problem,” and 80 percent believe hospitals and providers can have a significant impact on reducing deaths from sepsis and HAIs.

PQC gave several examples of protocols that reduce sepsis and HAIs, including creating specialized sepsis teams and giving sepsis top priority in hospital labs.
