The latest update to the “Physicians on the Move” report indicates the rate of physicians who moved to a new location or practice, retired or passed away was 12.4 percent in 2010, down from 18.2 percent in 2008 and 15 percent in 2009.

Allergists, immunologists and pediatricians were among the most stable physicians, while hepatologists, hematologists and osteopathic physicians were among the most volatile. The study, which has been conducted yearly by SK&A since 2008, lists annualized change rates for 86 physician specialties and 16 medical office personal titles.
