Purdue Pharma Launches Pain Management Online Resources for Healthcare Providers

Stamford, Conn.-based Purdue Pharma, a privately held pharmaceutical company, has introduced the Medical Education Resource Catalog Online, a Web-based resource that provides licensed healthcare professionals in the U.S. with access to free educational materials to help improve the care of people with pain, according to a Purdue Pharma news release.

MERCO includes information on pain management including patient and peer communication, medication therapy management, risk management and safe storage and disposal of medication, and was developed in collaboration with clinical experts, according to the release. The resource also includes Focused and Customized Education Topic Selections in Pain Management, a CD-ROM that contains various learning modules and resources that are developed for clinical educators and healthcare professionals interested in pain management education.

The MERCO Web site also features Addressing Substance Abuse Prevention, or ASAP, which provides slide modules intended to help healthcare professionals understand the scope of substance and medication abuse, including recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse and steps on referring patients, according to the release.
