Physician ranked as highest paid job — 5 highlights

Physicians topped Glassdoor's 2015 list for highest paying jobs, according to The Chicago Tribune.

In their report, Glassdoor considered titles with at least 75 salary reports that U.S. employees shared over the past year.

Here are five highlights:

1. Last year, physicians earned a median base salary of $180,000, followed by lawyers with a median base salary of $144,500.

2. The physician job market had 2,064 openings in 2015.

3. Sixty-eight percent of people report take-home pay is among their top concerns prior to accepting a job, making Glassdoor's report particularly useful.

4. Other top-paying jobs include a research and development management position with a median base salary of $142,120; a software development management position with a median base salary of $132,000; and a pharmacy manager with a median base salary of $130,000.

5. "This report reinforces that high pay continues to be tied to in-demand skills, higher education and working in jobs that are protected from competition or automation. This is why we see several jobs within the technology and healthcare industries," said Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor chief economist, in a statement.
