The report includes responses from 13,575 physicians. The survey was conducted on behalf of The Physicians Foundation by Merritt Hawkins and completed in September 2012.
When asked which two factors they found most satisfying about medical practice, physician responses included the following:
• Patient relationships — 80.2 percent
• Intellectual stimulation — 69.7 percent
• Interaction with colleagues — 19.2 percent
• Financial rewards — 11.7 percent
• Prestige of medicine — 10 percent
