Catholic Healthcare Partners’ “Guidelines for Responding to Serious Adverse Events” is a 17-page resource the outlines:

•    Immediate actions to be taken after a serious adverse event
•    Communication with patients and families
•    Assessment and support of involved physicians and staff
•    Adverse event and reporting

The guidelines also include supplements, such as checklists and communication flowcharts, to help carry out effective crises management.
