Pennsylvania Surgery Centers Showcased in Pittsburgh Newspaper Slideshow

A story in the Pittsburgh Business Times showcases independent surgery centers in Pennsylvania with an 11-photo photo gallery.

According to the report, independent surgery centers are playing an increasing role in outpatient surgeries, with 32.6 percent of outpatient procedures in 2010 performed in ASCs. ASCs have been steadily gaining in their share of outpatient procedures; in 2000, the percentage of outpatient surgeries performed in independent surgery centers was around 10.2 percent.

Reporter Kris Mamula described ASC care as “a patient-centered approach where the overall experience matters, infections are few and results are good.”
