Pennsylvania Ambulatory Surgery Association Government Affairs Update

The Pennsylvania Ambulatory Surgery Association recently published an update on the state’s government affairs and plans for next year.

Several of the same factors impacting ASCs around the country will have an impact in Pennsylvania as well, including health insurance exchanges and other provisions of the Affordable Care Act. The state will also enact the Act of 60 of 2013 in early 2014, which permits hospitals to use accrediting bodies to conduct licensure surveys in lieu of the department of health.

PASA said it is “looking into the possibility of introducing similar legislation that would permit ASCs with a similar pathway making participation voluntary and decisions left to each individual ASC.”
