A man in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area said he received a package through the mail in which one of three bottles of pain medications was missing. Rather than being torn open, a small slit was made at the bottom of the package. He said he did not discover the theft until he opened the package at home.
WFAA reported that an employee at its sister station, KHOU in Houston, was informed by the Office of Inspector General that it was investigating theft of her medications through the mail. Obvious packaging could have attracted the thief.
The U.S. Postal Service said it arrested 416 postal employees in 2010 for stealing, delaying or destroying mail.
