Pain Physician Championing Yoga Charged With Illegal Prescribing

A Florida pain physician who champions yoga to control pain has been indicted on federal charges of illegally prescribing the painkiller oxycodone, according to a St. Petersburg Times report.

John A. Gianoli III, MD, a Largo, Fla., internist who specializes in pain management, became a certified yoga instructor several years ago and has posted videos about yoga on YouTube.

 

The indictment from the U.S. Attorney’s Office accused him of writing illegal prescriptions five times, but it does not shed light on the amounts he prescribed or the circumstances of the cases.
