Owner of Southgate Surgery Center, Castleman Eye Center, Dies at 72

Lawrence Dennis Castleman, MD, ophthalmologist and owner of Southgate (Mich.) Surgery Center and Castleman Eye Center (Troy, Mich.), has passed away at the age of 72 from pancreatic cancer, according to a report from The News Herald.

Dr. Castleman was a founding member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. At his own centers, he founded a program called Neighbors in Need, which provided free cataract surgeries to uninsured patients.

Dr. Castleman’s family has requested donations to Pan Can-Pancreatic Action Network or other charities to honor him.
