The owner of R&V Medical Supplies in Philadelphia has been sentenced to 66 months in prison due to a Medicare fraud and kickback scheme, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.
In June, Robert Saul pleaded guilty to 48 counts of healthcare fraud, six counts of mail fraud, 47 counts of illegal kickbacks and three counts of obstruction of justice. He has been ordered to pay $845,000 in restitution in addition to his prison term.
Mr. Saul solicited business to R&V, a durable medical equipment supplier, by paying kickbacks to outside referral sources and ordering DME without medical necessity. He submitted at least $845,000 in fraudulent claims for DME.
