The bill, which mandates physician use of the state’s prescription drug monitoring system and takes effect July 20, is receiving pushback from the Kentucky Medical Association and state licensing boards. The organizations argue that many details involved in the legislation, such as how often physicians must search patients’ records in the database, remain unclear and may be overly burdensome on a daily basis.
