Buffalo Surgery Center Files Certificate of Need to Add Ophthalmology

Buffalo Surgery Center has filed a certificate of need application with the New York Department of Health to add ophthalmology procedures at its facility, according to a Buffalo Business First report.

The facility is located on the Excelsior Orthopedics campus and is certified for multi-specialty surgery services, with a focus on musculoskeletal conditions, including bones, muscles, tendons and joints. Excelsior physicians performed 5,000 surgical procedures at the site last year.

David Uba, CEO, said the company is talking with several ophthalmologists interested in performing surgeries at the surgery center. Mr. Uba said the company plans to develop a new building on available land at the site in the next 18-24 months.
