The forming of the committee comes as hospitals are increasingly hiring nurses who have more than two years of study and training in the field.
The push by Ohio hospitals, such as Kettering Health Network, stems from a growing body of literature that suggests advanced nursing training leads to improved patient outcomes, such as fewer complications and shorter length of stay, according to the report.

Kettering Health Network, for example, requires “newer” nurses to obtain a bachelor’s degree within five years in order to keep their nursing positions.
