The illegal prescriptions, based on stolen Medicare information, were then filled at pharmacies across the western states.
The investigation was prompted by the apparent overdose death of a man west of Los Angeles. The clinics have been closed and one of those arrested allegedly had 2,000 OxyContin pills.
