The John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute is the first in Louisiana to offer an AI-powered treatment for atrial fibrillation.
The software, created by Volta, provides physicians with real-time analysis of 3D heart maps during catheter ablation procedures and detects irregular electrogram patterns, according to a Sept. 18 news release from Ochsner Health.
According to Michael Bernard, MD, section head of electrophysiology at Ochsner Health, the use of Volta’s AI resulted in high disease-free rates during randomized clinical trials.
More than 6 million people in the U.S. have Afib, and it is projected that more than 12 million people in the U.S. will be affected by Afib by 2030, the release said.
