November’s seasonally adjusted level for hospitals was 4,745,400, or 9,000 more than in October and 53,400 more than in Nov. 2008, for a one-year increase of 1.13 percent.
November’s seasonally adjusted level for physicians’ offices was 2,343,300, or 3,800 more than in October and 53,500 more than in Nov. 2008, for a one-year increase of 2.33 percent.
November’s seasonally adjusted level for outpatient care centers was 544,000, or 3,300 fewer than in October but 2,000 more than in Nov. 2008, for a one-year increase of 0.36 percent.
In addition to ASCs, outpatient care centers include kidney dialysis centers, outpatient mental health and substance abuse centers, and freestanding emergency centers.
Overall healthcare employment rose 21,000 to a seasonally adjusted 13,725,600, or a 0.15 percent rise. Healthcare has gained 283,200 jobs since Nov. 2008, an increase of 2.10 percent.
The national unemployment rate fell by 0.2 percent in November, to 10.0 percent.
