Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Nova Southeastern University is opening a regional campus in Henderson, Nev., to expand its anesthesiologist assistant program.

The university is the first to offer an anesthesiologist assistant program in Nevada, according to a June 17 news release from NSU.

The program will train students to monitor patients, develop anesthesia care plans, administer anesthesia and provide pre- and post-operative care through hands-on clinical experiences and on-site simulation facilities.

The first cohort in the 17-month program will include 26 students and start this summer.

The Henderson site is Nova Southeastern’s 11th campus, the release said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
