New York Medical Center Unveils New Surgical Pavilion

Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, N.Y., unveiled its new surgical pavilion, The Kanas Center for Advanced Surgery, on Aug. 28, according to a PBMC news release.

The surgical pavilion was named in recognition of the substantial contribution to the $10 million expansion of PBMC of the John Kanas family, according to the release.

The Kanas Center for Advanced Surgery includes five state-of-the-art operating rooms, a 12-bed ambulatory surgery area, four individual pre-surgery anesthesia suites and a comprehensive 12-bed post anesthesia care unit. Medical air filtration systems, emergency power capabilities and latest generation sterilization equipment are also featured at the center.

Each of the ORs includes advanced high definition surgical video integration systems, special shadow-eliminating operating room lights and audio/video capabilities to allow for real-time conferencing, according to the release.
