The first audit released by state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli showed the Department of Health had paid approximately $100 million in overpayments because its eMedNY claims-processing system did not possess the updated data needed to stay apprised about payments Medicaid providers had already received from Medicare, according to the report.

The Department of Health said it had taken steps to ensure the problem wouldn’t happen again, according to the report.
