New Web Site Allows Pennsylvanians to Compare Hospitals

A new Web site, www.pa-hospital-search.com, will allow consumers to make more informed decisions when choosing a hospital, according to a news release by Anapol, Schwartz, Weiss, Cohan, Feldman & Smalley, P.C., the law firm that compiled the data.

The site provides data on more than 150 hospitals in Southeastern, Western and Central/Northeastern Pennsylvania, which has been synthesized from the 2003-2007 Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council’s Public Hospital Performance Reports.

Consumers can use the site to get background information on over 50 common medical conditions and procedures; view mortality rates, average hospital stays, regionally adjusted costs and readmission rates; compare regional and statewide data; and provide feedback, according to the release.

Anapol Schwartz will continue to update the data, and future updates will allow consumers to generate customized reports for side-by-side comparison of multiple hospitals.
