New Poll Released by Doctors Group Opposes Government-Run Health Plan

A new physicians group that opposes a government-run healthcare plan has issued results of a nationwide poll it conducted, finding that 70 percent of specialty doctors oppose current healthcare reform proposals, according to a release from the group, the American Society of Medical Doctors, which was founded in July by Alfred Bonati, MD, an orthopedic spinal surgeon at the Bonati Institute in Hudson, Fla.

The poll also found that 66 percent believe that a government-run plan would restrict doctors’ ability to give the best advice and offer the best care possible to their patients; and more than 60 percent said they would not accept new patients with government insurance.
