New Mexico ASCs Save Medicare $5M in Cataract Procedures

New Mexico’s 19 Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery centers were able to create significant savings for Medicare in 2011.

According to ASCA’s Campaign for Advancing Surgical Care, New Mexico ASCs saved Medicare $5 million on cataract procedures in 2011. The 19 centers also saved Medicare $600,000 on 700 knee and shoulder arthroscopies, making a significant impact on healthcare spending.
