Three months ago, CMS launched a competitive bidding program that raised concerns among local medical supply businesses. Since the program began, only 25 of almost 170 companies in the Pittsburgh area have been awarded Medicare contracts to sell items in the program’s nine categories. Concerns about the program prompted lawmakers to introduce legislation that would repeal the program. https://www.beckersasc.com/asc-supply-chain-materials-management/pittsburgh-medical-suppliers-say-competitive-bidding-program-hurts-local-businesses-limits-access-to-care.html

However, Klingensmith HealthCare is one medical supplier that has “not had any complaints,” according to the news report. In order to make up for lost profits through competitive bidding, Klingensmith has streamlined some of its processes to reduce costs internally.
