New AAO Portal Helps Ophthalmologists Meet Meaningful Use, Boost Patient Education

The American Academy of Ophthalmology is offering a patient-communication portal to help eye care practices meet HHS’ meaningful use criteria for electronic health records, according to an AAO news release.

The AAO portal, developed by Sophrona Solutions, meets a specific meaningful use criterion that more than 10 percent of the practice’s patients must be given patient-specific education resources electronically.

 

Sophrona’s secure, online communication platform allows ophthalmologists to provide patients with clinical information from the Academy explaining ophthalmic procedures and surgeries prior to and after their appointments.
