Mt. Vernon, Ill., to Welcome New Surgery Center, Hospital

St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital, based in Mt. Vernon, Ill., has received approval for certificate of need applications to build a new surgery center and hospital, according to a report from the Mt. Vernon Register-News.

The surgery center will be built in conjunction with a medical office. The entire facility will cost close to $29 million and occupy 141,000 square feet.

The hospital will be 359,000 square feet and cost $185 million, according to the report. It will offer 138 beds and is twice the size of the existing St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital.
