Minnesota Clinic Expansion to Include Surgery Center

Meritcare Clinic in Detroit Lakes, Minn., has announced plans for a $15 million expansion and renovation project, including the addition of a two-room ambulatory surgery center, according to a report in the Morris Sun Tribune.

The 33,000-square-foot expansion will include a surgery center with two operating suites, expanded imaging services and space, expanded lab services and space, expanded and relocated physical therapy space, outdoor space for mobile medical units with over-head canopies on the south and north entrances and expanded clinic space for future growth of up to 36 providers, both primary and specialty care, according to the report.

The addition of the surgery center will allow Meritcare Clinic to add surgical specialties to the center, including urology, ear, nose and throat and orthopedics, according to the report.

Construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2011.
