Cook Medical’s GI Stent Approved by the FDA

A gastrointestinal stent for use in patients suffering GI obstructions from cancer has been cleared by the FDA, a Med City News report said.

The stent, called the Evolution Duodenal Controlled-Release Stent, will be available to use to combat gastric outlet obstruction as a result of advanced GI cancers. A European study found that 21 of 23 patients had “significant improvement” with the stent.
