The ASC, represented by Linda Phillips, RN, administrator for Southgate, recently received a “Business Minute” plaque from Southgate Mayor Joseph Kuspa at a city council meeting.

Ms. Phillips says the ASC received the plaque and recognition for several reasons, including the service the facility provides the Southgate community as its only ASC and the philanthropic work of the center.

“We hold open houses where we have free screening events,” Ms. Phillips says. “We hold colon cancer awareness [events] and provide a take-home hit. We do [glucose] screenings, glaucoma/vision screenings and blood pressure checks. We’ve done Relay for Life, Toys 4 Tots, adopted a family for Christmas. This year we’re donating toys and food” for the holidays.

The ASC is committed to ensuring a positive patient experience, which includes providing transportation for patients who do not have the means to make it to the surgery center, Ms. Phillips says.

“The plaque is a way to acknowledge the staff and the center itself for the excellent care … and the charitable work we provide throughout the year.”
