Medical Facilities Corporation releases 2014 report: 3 things to know

Medical Facilities Corporation released its 2014 Annual Report, which highlight’s the company’s financial performance, facilities and the markets in which it operates. Here are three things to know from the report.

1. MFC’s revenue was up 0.9 percent to $311.8 million. Income from operations was down 2.8 percent from $73.3 million in 2014 to $71.2 million. The company’s operating margin dipped 3.8 percent to 22.8 percent.

2. The company owns interests in Black Hills Surgical Hospital in Rapid City, S.D.; Dakota Plains Surgical Center in Aberdeen, S.D.; Sioux Falls (S.D.) Specialty Hospital; Oklahoma Spine hospital in Oklahoma City; Arkansas Surgical Hospital in North Little Rock; and The Surgery Center of Newport Coast in Newport Beach, Calif.

3. MFC reported its pay mix by gross and net revenue.

Gross revenue:
•    Medicaid/Medicare: 33 percent
•    Blue Cross Blue Shield: 32 percent
•    Other private payers and self-pay: 25 percent
•    Workers’ compensation; 10 percent

Net revenue
•    Other private payers and self-pay: 33 percent
•    Blue Cross Blue Shield: 32 percent
•    Medicaid/Medicare: 25 percent
•    Workers’ compensation; 10 percent
