Massachusetts Hospital to Build Outpatient Surgery Center

Newton-Wellesley Hospital, based in Newton, Mass., has received approval from the Framingham (Mass.) planning board to build a 24,000 square-foot outpatient screening and surgical facility in the town, according to a report in the Boston Globe.

Opponents of the proposal claim that the new non-profit facility would create unfair competition for the for-profit MetroWest Medical Center.
