Massachusetts General names otolaryngology chief

Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear named Mark Varvares, MD, chief of the Departments of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, according to a news release.

Both facilities are member hospitals of Mass General Brigham.

Dr. Varvares also was named chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Boston-based Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Varvares has been serving as interim chief and chair since July 2020. He is a head and neck cancer surgeon and a professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Harvard Medical School.
