Louisiana Woman Sentenced to Two Years in Prison For Healthcare Fraud

Cleopatra Lacour Montgomery of Port Allen, La., was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay over $100,000 in restitutions after she pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud and money laundering, according to a report from WAFB 9 News.

Ms. Montgomery billed Medicare for $188,247 for 22 power wheelchairs when she provided cheaper equipment or did not provide wheelchairs to Medicare patients, according to the report. She received $103,982 in reimbursements.

As part of her sentence, Ms. Montgomery will pay the $103,982 in restitutions to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and will have three years of supervised release, according to the report.
