Louisiana Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Returns $44M to State and Medicaid

The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of Louisiana returned over $44 million during the 2009-2010 fiscal year to the state and Medicaid program, according to a news report by WGNO ABC26 News.

Part of the returns is a result of settlements, including the Pfizer settlement in which Louisiana received over $8.5 million.

The MFCU reported that the force made 102 arrests with charges including Medicaid fraud, filing and maintaining false public records and battery/exploitation to the infirmed; 67 convictions for previous stated charges and 143 pending prosecutions throughout the state.
