Stacey Royal, MD, admitted to filing more than $900,000 in false claims to health insurance companies between Oct. 2004 and July 2009. In addition to her prison sentence, she has been ordered to pay the cost of the investigation by the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ohio Department of Insurance and a corporate recovery firm, according to the report.
Dr. Royal must also perform 300 hours of community service, seek mental health counseling, disclose felony convictions to all medical boards and pay a $10,000 fine.
