Members of the AHA gathered in Washington this week for its 39th annual membership meeting and to try to use its influence to lobby on behalf of its interests. These include blocking the implementation of certain Medicaid regulations — such as a measure to block Medicaid support of graduate medical education and funding specialized medical transportation to school for children in the Medicaid program — and pushing for a ban on physician self-referrals to specialty hospitals.
